As a fandom loving family Joe and I are so excited for the new Star Wars movie to come out. Our relationship has been built on our love for all things Star Wars and of course we own all the movies and games. We are counting down the days to the release of The Last Jedi so that we can get a babysitter and go to the midnight release..well the first showing because theaters where we live don’t really show movies at midnight anymore. I have no clue why they stopped but we miss waiting in line at 11 P.M. with caffeine pumping through our veins so we could be one of the first to see the movie. Yes, there are still early showings but nothing beats the rush of midnight releases. That being said Joe and I are always looking forward to any sneak peaks we can find. Disney and Lucasfilm have just announced a fun interactive way to learn about some secrets from Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
With the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi only a few months away fans are being given the chance to unlock and reveal new characters that will be making an appearance in the film. Disney and Lucasfilm just announced Find The Force. Find The Force is a global augmented reality (AR) event that will be rolling out on September 1, or as Star Wars fans will be calling it Force Friday II, and it will help celebrate the international release of new products inspired by, Stars Wars: The Last Jedi.
The new Star Wars products launch on September 1 at 12:01 A.M. and over 20,000 retail locations across the galaxy, well…world.., will become homes for the augmented reality Star Wars characters September 1-3. As Droids, Jedi Masters, and Sith Lords show up to purchase and take home Star Wars: The Last Jedi merchandise they will have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive augmented reality experience where they will see some fan-favorite characters and possibly even see new faces that will be in the film!
Want to get in on the fun? Here is how it works!!! First you need to download the Star Wars app for your mobile device. The Star Wars app is your destination for ALL things in the galaxy far, far away. If you already have the app make sure that it is updated to the latest version! Once it is downloaded, head to one of the 20,000+ participating retail locations and find a graphic that showcases the Find The Force logo during September 1-3. After you find the logo, scan it with the app to reveal one of fifteen random characters, who through augmented reality, will appear to be in the room with you! You can then take pictures and record video to share on social media. Make sure to go back each day to reveal a new character!
Find the Force is available for download in your Star Wars app as of August 24, and as a bonus perk you can take a look at one of the new Star Wars characters now! Head to www.starwars.com/findtheforce to find a list of participating retailers and details, as well as a chance to look at that new character mentioned above!
Once the AR hunt for characters begins be sure to share your photos and videos on Instagram and Twitter using #FindTheForce and #Sweepstakes throughout the time of the event. Fans in select global area will be entered to win the ultimate Star Wars experience: Tickets to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiere in December.
